I have served adolescents and adults in various settingsincluding residential treatment facilities, outpatient Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT), Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) and aftercare treatment facilities. Areas of treatments consist ofpersonal, behavioral, emotional, relationship, parent/child conflict, addiction, co-occurring disorders, and family difficulties. More specifically, I have experience working with individuals with mood disorders, anxiety, depression, domestic violence issues, substance abuse issues, trauma survivors, personality disorders, developmental disabilities, eating disorders, and family conflict.

My role as a counselor is to provide an environment of safety, trust, and mutual respect from which the clients and I cooperatively explore their world. I will work collaboratively to identify areas of concern and presenting problems and develop a comprehensive plan to improve one’s overall quality of life. My goal is to promote mental health wellness through meeting each client at his or her level and developing a working relationship towards overall mental and emotional well-being.

My core belief is that we as humans can be our own authors and essentially write or re-write our own destinies. This means that despite unfortunate or uncontrollable circumstances, we can change our lives and create the results that have always been desired. Helping clients increase self-awareness, recognize the power of choice and responsibility, change faulty cognitions, and recognize the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors is a large part of my therapeutic approach. Research has revealed, alternative therapies such as art, music therapy, and self-expression through writing, acting are as beneficial and are discussed in sessions. Other techniques I may utilize while in session are role playing and relaxation exercises.  The techniques utilized are tailored to the clients and are based on the client’s comfort level. These therapies are well-established, empirical, and evidence based. I welcome a collaborative relationship with my clients to progress toward overall well-being..

Tjrilmel Jones spent close to a decade in law enforcement before he ever sat across from a client in a counseling room. That wasn't a career detour — it was the education that changed everything. He saw, up close and repeatedly, what happens when people fall through the cracks of systems that were supposed to help them. He watched youth cycle through the same doors. He watched adults carry weight that no one had ever asked them to name. And at some point, he stopped wanting to respond to the aftermath and started wanting to be part of what happens before it gets there.

He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate (LCASA) at Kaydium Therapy Services where he works with both adults and youth navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and the quiet, persistent feeling of being stuck at a crossroads with no clear direction. He specializes in working with adults and juveniles who have been impacted by the criminal justice system — people he understands not from a textbook, but from having stood on the other side of that system and seeing what it does to a person when no one meets them with anything other than a charge number. His approach is collaborative, down-to-earth, and built on a simple premise: he is not here to fix anyone. He is here to walk alongside someone while they figure out what they already have the strength to do.
